Collection consists of a letter from Osborn to Swoomstedt and Poe Publishers, written on a printed circular about Roanoke College. He writes about the possible publication of sketches he made of the Mediterranean and Holy Land, where he studied the geography and plants of Palestine. His study culminated in the publication of two works: PALESTINE, PAST AND PRESENT (London, 1859), and PLANTS OF THE HOLY LAND WITH THEIR FRUITS AND FLOWERS (1860).
